The work is part of the project My World Cares for Me, which was accompanied by a presentation book written and illustrated by Maria Mateescu, and two exhibitions.
The theme of plants and pets is one of the main subjects present in a large part of this suite of works. In some works, the cat or the geranium flower are represented as a shelter, a comfortable space.
The human character sheltered alongside plants and animals no longer has the role of master over what is on earth – a conventional concept we have grown accustomed to over time, but rather is the one who this time finds refuge and hospitality in the midst of nature, the one who is welcomed and reconnected.
The relationship of man as master – animal as property of man is eliminated and replaced with a relationship of friendship and communication, in which plants and animals tell stories and are listened to. Man is the vulnerable one, who needs protection and help from the natural world.
I named the painting Storytelling, because the model I painted from is my own cat, named Pisa. You can see her here presenting her painting, because she likes to be present at all important activities.
The painting is very suitable for animal and tea lovers, those who tend to ponder, to be daydreamers, to dream, to contemplate and to enjoy the small and simple things that make our lives beautiful.
