The work is part of the project Thoughts from the Teacup, which was based on a book written and illustrated by Maria Mateescu, and an exhibition at the National Museum of Literature.
The book "Thoughts from the Teacup" is about a self-encounter over a cup of tea. The idea of thoughts in the teacup is a consequence, a result expressed after realizing that self-analysis, and then self-education of the mind, is important and influences every subsequent external action.
This process of observing one's own train of thought, creating a distance, a space between oneself and one's thoughts, seemed amazing and amusing at the same time.
A cup of tea becomes a world of contemplation, where you sort thoughts and ask yourself questions. A saying goes, "Our success in life depends on the questions we ask."
The painting proposes an introspection into the most mundane thoughts, which, when accumulated, become either toxic or friendly to our soul. The simple process of observing the nuance of the thoughts that cross our minds is a step towards becoming more self-aware.
The work is especially suitable for ladies, as the author has brought forth some of their specific "whys," but it can be a proposition for contemplation for anyone...
